Beyond the Beats

News from Buzzing Roots!

We’re thrilled to share that Buzzing Roots has been backed by Youth Music through the Catalyser Fund to deliver our upcoming project — Beyond the Beats!

​

Beyond the Beats is a two-year creative programme supporting neurodivergent children and young people from the Braunstone area of Leicester. Through music, movement, and sensory exploration, the project opens new pathways for creative expression and connection.

We will improve our practice by exploring music through all senses, using movement and 
dance as integral pathways to understanding rhythm, structure, and sound. This multi
sensory approach enhances accessibility and fosters meaningful participation. 
Workshops will be led by professional musicians and supported by dance artists, offering 
a deeply interconnected and embodied musical experience.

The programme also includes training for local teachers and library staff, ensuring the project leaves a lasting legacy of inclusion and creativity in the community. Through this work, we aim to empower children, young people, and the adults who support them, transforming public spaces into places of belonging, expression, and joy.

Beyond the Beats is supported by the Youth Music Catalyser Fund.
The Catalyser Fund is designed for organisations with a strong track record of delivering music opportunities for children and young people who face barriers. The funding supports work that sustains existing high-quality delivery, scales up musical opportunities across wider geographies or into new cohorts, or influences sector practice to make music-making more inclusive overall.
